UM (Unlimited Music) is a music company based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Its activities includes music publishing, negotiations for publishing and record catalogue acquisitions,
management consultancy, royalty audits and consultancy to artist management.
The management team can deal with issues in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French.
The company was founded in 1995 in Rio de Janeiro in response to a demand for
professional management in the Brazilian music market from artists, producers, composers, music publishers, record companies, musicians and studio owners.
The founding partner is Michel Kestemont, a Belgian, who has more than 20 years of experience in the music business based in Brazil and overseas. He graduated from
Belmont University and has worked in three continents (North America, Europe, and South America). He has worked for both record and music publishing companies and
held senior positions with Polygram , BMG and EMI. In Brazil Michel was one of the four directors in establishing the record label and publishing company of Biscoito Fino.
Michel has extensive contacts in the artistic community in Brazil and has recently worked with Miucha, one of the main interpreters of the music of Tom Jobim and mother of
Bebel Gilberto and sister of Chico Buarque.
We enjoy a previledge relationship with Marcos Jucá a qualified Brazilian lawyer and was previously head of BMG Music Publishing Brazil also President of the ABER publisher association.
Marcos is currently a partner in Nossa Musica (also a current UM client), the publishing arm of Biscoito Fino. Our companies exchanges services and consultancies
As music publishers UM represents in Brazil important Latin and International repertoires such as the publishing catalogue of Global Talent, Good Groove, Marco Antonio Solis and Luis Angel among others.
The company handles all the administration with its own computer system that can be tailored to the client’s needs.
The company also provides worldwide representation and overall consulting to Moleque which is the well known Gonzaguinha catalogue. Songs from this catalogue has been recorded by Caetano Veloso,
Gilberto Gil and Elis Regina among many others.
The company enjoys representation for the several Brazilian publishing catalogues in most worldwide territories via the Budde Music structure.
